{LSUS SPRING WORKSHOP} Starting a Nonprofit in Louisiana: From Vision to Reality

Are you passionate about solving a community problem or pursuing a social mission? This interactive workshop will guide aspiring nonprofit founders through the essential steps to legally establish and successfully launch a nonprofit organization in Louisiana.

Whether you have a fully formed idea or are just exploring possibilities, you’ll gain a clear understanding of the legal, financial, and strategic components of starting a nonprofit in Louisiana. Led by experts from the Institute for Nonprofit Administration and Research, this session will provide the tools and templates you need to turn your vision into a viable and sustainable organization.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Determine if forming a nonprofit is the right path
  • Draft a mission statement that inspires and informs
  • Navigate the legal steps to incorporate and obtain 501(c)(3) status
  • Understand the state-specific requirements for Louisiana nonprofits
  • Develop a basic budget and governance structure
  • Create a plan for fundraising, compliance, and impact

Who Should Attend: This workshop is ideal for community members, changemakers, church and civic leaders, students, and professionals interested in launching or formalizing a nonprofit initiative in Louisiana.

Format: In-person (Online for those outside of North Louisiana), 90-minute workshop with time for Q&A and take-home resources.
